KOTUG to develop a fully electric pusher tug

Dutch maritime company KOTUG has received an order from compatriot transportation firm ROS for a fully electric pusher tug.

The pusher tug will transport sand between the Maasvlakte terminal and Rotterdam, KOTUG said.

The vessel will be deployed in combination with barges provided by Dutch maritime firm Jansma Shipping, the company said.

The e-pusher tug is expected to be fully operational by August 2025.
