GoodFuels provided the biofuel, which is made from sustainable waste-based feedstocks such as used cooking oil.

Before the transition, the company used to operate this vessel on low sulphur fuel oil.

“Biofuel allows ship owners to reduce the environmental impact by not having to invest in modifications to the vessel engine room and funnel area. But since biofuel is a limited resource, it is good to look into parallel solutions as well, such as exhaust gas treatment and carbon capture,” Lang Ship's managing director Laura Langh-Lagerlöf says.

Langh Ship's vessel is chartered by Dutch logistics company Samskip on a shortsea liner service between the Netherlands and the UK.

Samskip currently operates a fleet of five vessels that run on biofuel. Bunkering of all these five vessels take place in Rotterdam.
