With the new partnership, the Swedish e-fuel company Liquid Wind will explore the feasibility of developing facilities outside Europe.
"The facilities will produce e-methanol for hard-to-abate sectors like global shipping," a spokesperson from Liquid Wind told ENGINE.
The South Korea-based Samsung E&A will provide engineering expertise for Liquid Wind’s future e-fuel projects in these regions.
The collaboration aims to meet the increasing market demand for fossil-free fuel, said Claes Fredriksson, CEO and founder of Liquid Wind.
Meanwhile, Liquid Wind has been building e-methanol projects for bunkering. In August, the company signed an agreement to develop a 100,000 mt/year e-methanol plant for Germany-based LNG supplier Uniper.
