The facility is expected to begin production by 2029, with a production capacity of up to 2 million mt/year, Lloyd’s Register (LR) said.
The classification society has joined the project, called Project Ra, as an advisor to DAI Infrastruktur on multiple aspects, including infrastructure planning, lifecycle greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions analysis, regulatory guidance and market offtake strategy support.
Under the agreement, LR will also provide demand-side pricing analyses, risk assessments, concept design reviews, among other things.
The green ammonia will be used in several industries including bunkering, LR said.
“The Ra green ammonia project is expected to play a key role in supplying European ports—particularly in Germany and Greece—with green ammonia,” chief executive officer of DAI Infrastruktur Ioannis Papassavvas said.
