Long Beach pushes toward world's first zero-emission port
The Port of Long Beach has approved $58.2 million to deploy six zero-emission and five cleaner harbour craft to replace older diesel engines.

The funding will also support the acquisition of 61 units of zero-emission, human-operated cargo-handling equipment and 21 chargers to power them. It will also advance one zero-emission locomotive.
The latest round of funding builds on the port's System-Wide Investment in Freight Transport (SWIFT) programme, the port authority said.
The SWIFT programme is aimed at accelerating the transition to zero-emission operations while improving the reliability and efficiency of cargo movement.
