Maritime firms look to establish green methanol bunkering in Melbourne

The Port of Melbourne authority and a host of shipping firms including CMA CGM and Maersk have agreed to explore whether a green methanol bunkering hub can be established and be commercially viable in Melbourne.

They will also examine the possibility of transporting green methanol from production units in Bell Bay, Tasmania (ABEL Energy), Portland and Victoria (HAMR Energy) to Melbourne for bunkering and storage.
Svitzer, Stolthaven Terminals, HAMR Energy and ABEL Energy have also signed the agreement.
