MOL charters three ethane dual-fuel ethane carriers to SCG Chemicals

MOL Energia, a subsidiary of Japan's Mitsui OSK Lines (MOL), has signed a long-term charter agreement with Thai chemical producer SCG Chemicals for three new ethane dual-fuel very large ethane carriers.

The three 100,000-cbm capacity vessels will be capable of operating on both ethane and conventional marine fuels. They are being built by South Korean shipbuilder Samsung Heavy Industries, with deliveries planned for 2027.

SCG Chemicals is a subsidiary of Bangkok-based cement company Siam Cement Group.
