MPA invites proposals for electric patrol vessel design

The Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) has invited proposals for the design and development of an electric patrol vessel for port operations.

A patrol vessel is used for coastal defence, surveillance and law enforcement at sea.

Though the impact of this small-scale electric vessel on global greenhouse gas emissions may be modest, the Expression of Interest (EoI) is significant as it will help gather key technical and operational data once the vessel is in use. This information can guide the development of larger electric vessels in the future.

Proposals must include details about advanced battery management and fire safety systems. Additionally, designs should feature efficient charging solutions and battery replacement options to support extended operations, according to the MPA.

The MPA has set 14 December as the deadline for submitting an EoI.
