North Ammonia to set up green ammonia production unit in Norway

North Ammonia and Fjord Base Holding will jointly develop a green ammonia production facility in Norway's Florø.

The project is currently awaiting the reservation of grid capacity to power the facility. The duo has not specified the production capacity nor given a timeline for the project. 

The two Norwegian firms signed a letter of intent in 2022 to jointly explore the possibility of establishing a green ammonia production facility at Fjord Base.

Fjord Base was chosen for its existing industry, infrastructure and maritime activity, said North Ammonia CEO Mikkel Tørud, adding that the green ammonia demand is expected to rise from 2030. 

Two other Norwegian firms Yara Clean Ammonia and Azane Fuel Solutions are also developing a bunkering terminal in Fjord Base.
