Norwegian Cruise Line signs shore power supply deal with Malta
Norwegian Cruise Line has signed a deal with Transport Malta letting its cruise ships plug into Malta’s electricity grid while berthed.

This is the fourth shore power deal Transport Malta has signed. Under the agreement, electricity from Malta’s power grid would run onboard services such as lighting and air conditioning on the Norwegian Cruise Line ships calling in the port.
That would let the ships switch off the engines that would otherwise burn fuel to keep power running at berth.
Only 40 ports where cruise ships call have at least one shore power connection for cruise vessels, cruise trade body CLIA said last month.
