NYK Line completes biofuel trial on LPG carrier

Japan’s Nippon Yusen Kaisha (NYK Line) bunkered one of its liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) carriers with a B24 blend of 76% VLSFO and 24% fatty acid methyl ester (FAME) in Singapore.

The Lycaste Peace is owned by Japanese shipping major NYK Line and chartered by LPG trader Astomos Energy.

This test voyage was carried out as part of the Global Centre for Maritime Decarbonisation's (GCMD) sustainable biofuel project in Singapore and Rotterdam. GCMD's project involves 19 industry partners and 13 ships, including containers, tankers, and bulk carriers.
