Panama bunker sales rise in October
Bunker sales of VLSFO and MGO have increased, both on a total and daily average basis.

Changes in Panama bunker fuel sales from September to October:
- Total sales up 85,000 mt to 461,000 mt
- VLSFO sales up 82,000 mt to 328,000 mt
- LSMGO sales up 6,000 mt to 46,000 mt
- HSFO sales down 2,000 mt to 83,000 mt
- 0.5% MGO sales down 2,000 mt to 3,000 mt
VLSFO sales gained by around 33% on the month, and LSMGO volumes increased by about 14%. HSFO sales eased slightly in October, down by 2% from September levels.
The rebound in October sales follows the steepest decline in the past 19 months recorded in September, according to preliminary data from the Panama Maritime Authority.
Total sales averaged 14,800 mt/day in October, compared with 12,500 mt/day in September.
A total of 637 ships bunkered in Panama’s ports last month – higher than 592 in September, while the number of barges operating decreased to 27.
The average stem size increased to 724 mt in October, up from 635 mt in the previous month.

VLSFO continued to dominate Panama’s bunker market in October, accounting for around 71% of total sales.
HSFO made up roughly 18% of the total, while MGO volumes contributed about 11%.
In key ports such as Cristobal, all fuel grades need a week’s time for prompt deliveries. In Balboa, all fuel grades are available for prompt deliveries. VLSFO can be delivered within 3-7 days.
