PaxOcean bags order for two methanol-ready vessels
An unnamed European shipping firm has ordered two methanol-ready offshore construction vessels (OCVs) from Singapore-based shipbuilder PaxOcean.
CONCEPT: Offshore construction vessel. PaxOcean
Offshore construction vessels are specialised ships designed to support the installation, maintenance and construction of offshore energy infrastructure, such as wind farms, oil platforms and subsea pipelines.
The contract includes an option to order two additional methanol-ready OCVs in the future.
Methanol-ready means that while the vessels will not initially be equipped to operate on methanol, they will be designed for future retrofitting to enable methanol propulsion.
The shipbuilder has not yet disclosed the estimated delivery date.
