Petrobras starts HSFO bunker sales in Rio de Janeiro

The grade's indicative price is around $80/mt below VLSFO in Rio de Janeiro today and is available for prompt delivery.

Petrobras said the move expands its bunker portfolio and gives customers a more cost-competitive option.

The fuel is produced at Petrobras's own refineries, the company said. It added that, like all its bunker grades supplied in Brazil, the product is free of petrochemical residues.

Customers seeking a firm offer should contact their Petrobras trader, the Brazil's state-controlled energy major said in an announcement sent to customers today.

Last week, Petrobras halted bunker deliveries at Rio Grande after a tropical storm knocked out power at the terminal for two days and resumed operations on 24 September.
