The new ships, Sharq and Shra’ouh, are fitted with dual-fuel engines that can run on both conventional fuels and boil-off LNG from their own cargo.

The fleet is being developed through a joint venture involving Nippon Yusen Kaisha (NYK Line), Kawasaki Kisen Kaisha (K Line), MISC Berhad, and China LNG Shipping (Holdings) Limited.

QatarEnergy has not disclosed where these carriers will operate or when the remaining vessels in the series will be delivered.
