Dutch shipbuilder Damen Shipyards carried out the installation of two suction wings on MV Baltic Timber.
The suction wing systems were provided by compatriot wind power firm Econowind, Damen Shipyards said.
Interest in wind-assisted propulsion continues to grow as shipowners look to improve efficiency and cut emissions.
MV Baltic Timber is “now expected to consume up to 12% less fuel,” Damen Shipyards claims.
Earlier in April, Econowind revealed its plan to install a 30-metre suction wing system on a vessel operated by Boomsma Shipping later this year.
