Rockwell and Energy Observer collaborate to launch zero-emission watercraft

Rockwell Automation and Energy Observer will develop and launch the a zero-emission watercraft together.

They say their laboratory vessel will be able to operate with no direct greenhouse gas emissions. It will be equipped with an engine that can run on ammonia, fuel cells and wind-assisted propulsion sails.
While this is a small vessel, testing ammonia and fuel cells can act as a proof of concept for these technologies that can perhaps be drawn on when developing propulsion technologies for larger ocean-going vessels.
