Sallaum Lines orders two LNG dual-fuel ammonia-ready car carriers
Sallaum Lines has placed an order for two LNG dual-fuel pure car and truck carriers (PCTCs) that will be built with ammonia-ready notation, enabling a future conversion to ammonia propulsion.

The deal signed with China’s Xiamen Shipbuilding Industry also has an option for two more vessels.
On delivery, the vessels will be able to run on both LNG and conventional fuels like VLSFO and LSMGO.
“The ammonia-ready designation positions the vessels for future conversion as green ammonia supply chains develop, helping future-proof the fleet in line with evolving regulatory requirements, including IMO 2030 targets and the direction of the EU Green Deal,” Sallaum Lines said in the statement.
The vessels will have a capacity of 8,600 car equivalent units (CEU) and feature five liftable decks. They will be the largest vessels in the carrier’s fleet.
Sallaum Lines is rapidly increasing its LNG capable car carrier fleet. Earlier this month, Sallaum Lines took delivery of two new LNG dual fuel PCTCs.
