Finnish engine maker Wärtsilä’s was recently contracted by the Chinese shipbuilder for the supply of the vessel's cargo handling system. In a bunker vessel, LNG cargo handling systems consist of equipment and procedures tailored for the safe transfer and storage of LNG, often including specialised tanks, pumps, and vaporisers to facilitate efficient bunkering operations.

In November 2022, Scale Gas ordered the 12,500-cbm capacity LNG bunker vessel to facilitate the supply of LNG and bio-LNG to ships in the Canary Islands. It is expected to enter service in June 2025.

Scale Gas is a subsidiary of Spanish energy company Enagás.
