Shell bunkers cruise ship with LNG in Barcelona

Global energy firm Shell has delivered an unspecified amount of LNG to TUI Cruises-operated cruise ship in the Spanish port of Barcelona.

This is “our first LNG bunkering operation for TUI Cruises in Barcelona,” Dexter Belmar, head of global downstream LNG at Shell said in a social media post.

The fuel was supplied to the cruise ship, Mein Schiff Relax, using Shell’s LNG bunker tanker, Haugesund Knutsen.

According to Belmar, Shell offers LNG bunkering at 26 global locations.

This includes “major cruise ports like Bahamas, Barcelona, Canaveral, Everglades, Jamaica, Miami, Singapore, Southampton, and Tenerife,” he added.
