SHI's LH2 carrier design gets ABS nod

Classification society American Bureau of Shipping (ABS) has approved South Korean shipbuilder Samsung Heavy Industries’ (SHI) liquefied hydrogen (LH2) carrier design.

The 20,000 cbm-capacity LH2 carrier will be equipped with Type C tanks, a high-pressure containment system commonly used in ships to transport liquefied gases, usually in cylindrical or spherical shapes.

ABS has completed design reviews in accordance with class and statutory requirements.
