Singapore bio-bunker sales dip in August, LNG sales surge

September 15, 2025

Singapore sold approximately 4,200 mt/day of bio-bunkers in August, down from around 4,300 mt/day recorded in July, according to preliminary figures from the port authority.

Changes in Singapore alternative fuel sales between July and August:

  • Bio-VLSFO sales up from 80,000 mt to 94,000 mt
  • Bio-HSFO sales down from 50,000 mt to 35,000 mt
  • Bio-LSMGO sales up from 1,700 mt to 1,900 mt
  • B100 sales up from 2,600 mt to 4,800 mt
  • LNG sales up from 42,000 mt to 67,000 mt

Singapore’s bio-blended bunker sales slipped by 2% in August, marking the second consecutive monthly decline. Sales totaled 130,000 mt in August, down from 132,000 mt in July.

Of this volume, about 94,000 mt was VLSFO blended with biofuel (typically at a 24% ratio in Singapore), while 35,000 mt was HSFO with a bio component. The remainder came from bio-blended LSMGO at 1,900 mt.

Despite the monthly dip, cumulative biofuel bunker sales from January to August reached 1.03 million mt, almost 2.5 times higher than the 405,000 mt recorded during the same period in 2024.

LNG bunker demand rose sharply in August, with sales up 61% month on month. Average daily sales increased by 800 mt to 2,200 mt, bringing total LNG bunker sales for January–August to nearly 353,000 mt, compared with 300,000 mt a year earlier.

Sales of B100 (100% biofuel) were recorded for the fifth consecutive month this year, totaling around 4,800 mt in August. In contrast, no methanol bunker sales have been reported so far this year.
