July 15, 2024

Singapore sold around 1,600 mt/day of bio-bunkers in June, slightly down from around 1,700 mt/day sold in May, according to preliminary figures from the port authority.

Changes in Singapore alternative fuel sales between May and June:

  • Bio-VLSFO sales down from 48,000 mt to 45,000 mt
  • Bio-HSFO sales down from 5,000 mt to 3,000 mt
  • Bio-MDO sales down from 300 mt to nil
  • LNG sales up from 49,000 mt to 52,000 mt
  • Methanol sales down from 1,600 mt to nil

Singapore's bio-blended bunker sales declined by 11% in June. Bio-bunker sales declined for the third consecutive month.

Most of the 48,000 mt of bio-blended bunkers sold in June were VLSFO blended with a bio component - typically 24% in Singapore. Total biofuel bunker sales across the first six months of this year stood at 288,000 mt, significantly higher than the 194,000 mt sold in the same period last year.

On the other hand, LNG sales rose for the second straight month, reaching a record high of 52,000 mt in June. Total LNG bunker sales stood at 212,000 mt in the first six months, almost six times higher than 37,000 mt sold in the same period last year.

No methanol sales were recorded in June.
