Singapore bio-bunker sales surged in September, while LNG sales declined

October 16, 2026

Singapore sold approximately 2,700 mt/day of bio-bunkers in September, up from around 1,800 mt/day in August, according to preliminary data from the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore.

Changes in Singapore alternative fuel sales from August to September:

  • Bio-VLSFO sales up from 48,000 mt to 76,000 mt
  • Bio-HSFO sales down from 9,000 mt to nil
  • B100 sales up from 800 mt to 2,600 mt
  • LNG sales down from 59,000 mt to 52,000 mt

Singapore’s bio-blended bunker sales rose sharply in September, increasing by 43% to 81,000 mt, which was the highest monthly volume since March.

Despite the rise, September sales were still 30% below the 115,000 mt recorded in the same month last year.

Of the total, approximately 76,000 mt was VLSFO blended with a bio component, typically around 24% in Singapore.

From January to September, Singapore’s total biofuel bunker sales stood at 571,000 mt, down substantially from 1.14 million mt during the same period last year.

LNG bunker sales declined 12% to 52,000 mt in September. However, cumulative LNG sales for the first nine months of the year reached nearly 487,000 mt, up from 401,000 mt a year earlier.

Meanwhile, B100, or 100% biofuel, bunker sales were recorded for the sixth consecutive month, with around 2,600 mt sold in September, up from approximately 800 mt in August.

There were no methanol bunker sales for the seventh consecutive month, while no ammonia bunker sales have been recorded so far this year.
