Singapore conventional bunker sales fell 7% in June

A decline in vessel arrivals for bunkering, along with reduced sales of VLSFO and HSFO, resulted in a 7% drop in the port’s total bunker sales in June compared to May.


Changes in bunker sales from May to June:

  • Total sales down 309,000 mt to 4.38 million mt
  • VLSFO sales down 143,000 mt to 2.31 million mt
  • HSFO sales down 189,000 mt to 1.70 million mt
  • MGO sales up 22,000 mt to 367,000 mt

In June, VLSFO sales fell by 6%, while HSFO sales saw a steeper decline of 10%. In contrast, MGO sales rose by 7%, preliminary data from the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore shows.

The number of vessels calling for bunkering dropped significantly by 235 to 3,402 in June, from 3,637 in May.

Overall, total bunker sales for the first half of the year were 3% lower compared to the same period last year.



Fuel grade share of total sales in June (compared to year to date):

  • 53% VLSFO (53% YTD)
  • 39% HSFO (39% YTD)
  • 8% MGO (7% YTD)
