Singapore’s conventional bunker sales increased for third straight month

August 17, 2026

Higher VLSFO and MGO sales lifted Singapore’s total bunker sales in July, according to preliminary data from the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA).

Changes in bunker sales from June to July:

  • Total sales up 57,000 mt to 4.63 million mt
  • VLSFO sales up 130,000 mt to 2.33 million mt
  • HSFO sales down 89,000 mt to 1.95 million mt
  • MGO sales up 14,000 mt to 360,000 mt

VLSFO sales at the Port of Singapore rose 6% in July from the previous month, while MGO sales increased by 4%. HSFO sales, meanwhile, declined 4% over the same period.

Around 3,675 vessels bunkered at the port in July, 57 more than the 3,618 vessels recorded in June, according to data from MPA.

Despite the increase in bunker calls, average daily bunker sales remained broadly unchanged from June levels.

In the first seven months of the year, Singapore’s total bunker sales were 5% higher than the same period last year.

Fuel grade share of total sales in July (compared to year to date):

  • 50% VLSFO (53% YTD)
  • 42% HSFO (40% YTD)
  • 8% MGO (8% YTD)
