Swedish ferry operator Stena Line will convert two out of the four primary engines in each vessel to run on methanol along with marine gas oil (MGO) in the retrofit process.

“The ship’s bunkering, storage, fuel supply and supporting systems will also be adapted for methanol,” LR said.

The ferries, Stena Superfast VII and Stena Superfast VIII, currently operate between Cairnryan in Scotland and Belfast in Northern Ireland.
