MV Glory, which was on its way from Turkey to China, ran aground briefly this morning due to a technical machinery failure. The incident occurred while the vessel was 38 km inside the Suez Canal.

The vessel is currently being towed out of Suez Canal using four tugboats, Suez Canal Authority said in its latest update. It says the MV Glory will be towed to the nearest stop in the Al-Ballah area so the machinery failure can be fixed.

51 vessels are expected to transit today in the Suez Canal, Suez Canal Authority says.

In March 2021, containership Ever Given was grounded in the canal, blocking the vessel traffic for six days. This incident caused major holdups to international supply chains.
