The company has developed a hydrogen fuel cell power module in partnership with Chinese tech firm Shanghai Hydrogen Propulsion Technology, which will utilise "hydrogen, either direct high purity, or reformed from fuels such as methanol," a representative from Sydrogen Energy told ENGINE.

The module will be "suitable for applications in propulsion" and auxiliary power needs, particularly for "coastal vessels," the representative added.

Currently, the fuel cell is "undergoing evaluation required by the Type Approval process" and is anticipated to be market-ready by 2025. The research firm is "in discussion with various partners" regarding trials.
