Bunker operations at several Taiwanese ports could face disruptions between Thursday and Saturday due to Typhoon Kong-rey, according to a source.

Tropical Cyclone Kong-rey has strengthened into a typhoon and is currently located about 940 kilometers east-southeast of Eluanbi, the southern tip of Taiwan. The typhoon is expected to impact parts of Luzon, the main island of the Philippines, before making landfall in Taiwan's Hualien-Taitung area on Thursday, according to Taiwan’s Central Weather Administration (CWA).

The CWA has issued advisories for heavy rain and strong winds across various Taiwanese regions.

While no port closures have been announced yet, shipping and berthing activities will likely be affected, and Taiwan's Coast Guard may issue a warning later today or early tomorrow if the typhoon stays on course, according to GAC Hot Port News.

A trader noted that bunker deliveries in Taiwan are expected to be suspended between Thursday and Saturday.
