TFG Marine installs MFMs on two US Gulf Coast barges

Bunker supplier TFG Marine has equipped two more bunker vessels serving the US Gulf Coast region with mass flow metres (MFMs).

The MFMs were installed on Buffalo B414 and Buffalo B304 and were certified according to ISO standards, TFG Marine said.

MFMs are specialised meters fitted to bunker barges to measure fuel quantity directly as it is transferred. By recording delivered mass in real time, they cut the scope for measurement error and for quantity disputes between suppliers and buyers.

TFG Marine began equipping their Gulf Coast barges with MFMs in July last year, starting with its barge, Buffalo 404.

The installations are a part of TFG Marine’s strategy to equip nearly 90% of its global bunkering fleet with MFMs by 2026.
