TMD is a subsidiary of Malaysian bunkering company Straits Energy Resources.
The biofuel blends to be supplied will be based on Used Cooking Oil Methyl Ester (UCOME), Straits Energy Resources managing director Dato Sri Ron Ho Kam Choy told ENGINE.
UCOME is derived from recycled or waste cooking oil.
The company will be able to provide biofuel price indications by early February, he added. However, the company has not disclosed what biofuel blend percentage will be supplied or whether it will be VLSFO or LSMGO blended.
At least 13 bunker delivery vessels have delivered VLSFO and LSMGO grades for TMD in Port Klang and Port of Tanjung Pelepas in Malaysia over the past month, according to ENGINE data.
Last month, the company got International Sustainability & Carbon Certification (ISCC)-EU certified. ISCC is a global certification system that sets standards for the sustainable production, sourcing and trade of all kinds of bio-based feedstocks and biofuels.
