UKMTO reports another missile strike in Red Sea within 24 hours

December 26, 2023

The United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) has issued an incident report of yet another missile strike around 60 nautical miles from Al-Hudaydah.

At 09:40 GMT today, a commercial ship passing in the area reported that they heard an explosion and sighted missiles about four nautical miles away, the maritime agency stated. The vessel and crew remained safe and were unharmed.

The UKMTO authority is currently probing the incident.

This incident comes hours after the UKMTO received reports of two explosions from drone attacks close to a vessel. The incident happened when the vessel was 58 nautical miles west of the Yemeni port of Al-Hudayah earlier today.

Over the past two weeks, the Houthi militia has increased its attacks on merchant ships passing through the Red Sea.
