Ukraine hits Russia's Black Sea oil port

Ukraine's unremitting drone campaign has struck Russia's key oil export terminal in Novorossiysk, further escalating its offensive against Moscow's vital energy hubs.

Novorossiysk and Tuapse are the two major Russian export hubs on the Black Sea.

Over the course of the war, Ukraine has repeatedly targeted these key export hubs, as well as Ust-Luga and Primorsk on the Baltic Sea.

Ukraine hit critical infrastructure in Novorossiysk on Wednesday, the city’s mayor Andrey Kravchenko said on social media platform Telegram. The strike started a fire at a fuel oil terminal at the port, local media reported.

Ukraine’s commander of the country’s Unmanned Systems Forces (USF) Robert Brovdi claimed the strike on Russia’s naval base in Novorossiysk on 8 - 9 September destroyed Russian military vessels.

Earlier this month, Kyiv launched a barrage of more than 52 drones and missiles over the Leningrad region, causing damage to the Ust-Luga port area, including a fire.

The Ust-Luga oil export terminal on the Baltic Sea moves crude oil, fuels, coal and other key commodities out of the Baltic Sea area.

The latest drone strike adds to the list of several attacks launched by Ukraine in recent weeks, as Kyiv presses its campaign against Russian energy infrastructure.
