The company bunkered seven biofuel stems last year. The biofuel stems bunkered ranged from B30 biofuel blend (30% biofuel) and went up to B100, or pure biofuel. They were sourced from GoodFuels, a subsidiary of FincoEnergies.
“Unigas, a prominent member of the Hafnia Bunker Alliance, has stemmed various products and quantities to trial biofuel consumption across its fleet,” said the tanker company.
Before rolling out GoodFuels’ products as a suitable alternative to fossil-based marine fuels for its entire fleet, Unigas ran trials across different vessels it owns, chief technical officer of Unigas Gerben Dekker said.
“Onboard and ashore experiences throughout the trials have been positive and point towards a larger share of biofuels being suitable for replacing conventional fuels going forward,” he said.
