These orders include six vessels with a cargo capacity of 174,000 cbm and three vessels with a larger capacity of 200,000 cbm. The vessels will be constructed in South Korea, with the first delivery expected later this year.
The new vessels will complement the company's Calcasieu Pass LNG export facility, which is yet to commence full commercial operations.
Venture Global expects the second phase of Calcasieu Pass to begin LNG production in 2026, pending regulatory approvals. The LNG producer said this expansion would increase the plant's capacity to produce 20 million mt/year.
“2/3 of that capacity is committed to our allies in Germany and Japan who are counting on the LNG to replace lost Russian volumes,” Venture Global said in a LinkedIn post.
