The 13,000-TEU vessels will be equipped with dual-fuel engines capable of running on LNG and conventional marine fuels.
They will also be designed for potential conversion to ammonia propulsion, although Yang Ming did not provide further details on the ammonia-ready specifications.
The vessels are scheduled for delivery between 2028-2029 and will be deployed on Yang Ming’s East-West routes, connecting Asia with the Americas and the Mediterranean.
The latest order takes Yang Ming’s total orderbook to 24 LNG-capable vessels scheduled for delivery by 2030, the company said.
