The approval verifies that the technology meets DNV’s applicable rules and guidelines, paving the way for its adoption by shipbuilders, system integrators and vessel operators.
Developed specifically for marine use, the hydrogen fuel cell system can provide both vessel propulsion and onboard power. It produces electricity through an electrochemical reaction between hydrogen and oxygen, generating zero CO2 emissions during operation.
The modular system can be configured to suit different vessel types and power requirements, with available output capacities of 80, 160, 240 and 320 kilowatt (kW).
