Green ammonia will be supplied to the Norwegian ammonia firm Yara from Phase 1 of Acme's green ammonia project in Oman, with delivery to Yara expected to commence in 2027 under a long-term offtake arrangement.
The plant, under construction near the Port of Duqm, will produce 100,000 mt/year of green ammonia in the first phase, with a future planned capacity of 900,000 mt/year. Green ammonia will be produced using electricity generated from renewable sources such as solar and wind energy.
With this partnership, volumes from Oman will be available for existing and emerging customers in all market segments, including shipping markets in Europe and elsewhere, a Yara spokesperson tells ENGINE.
Yara's spokesperson mentioned that the allocation of green ammonia for the shipping sector will be determined by the evolving demand within the industry.
