ADNOC partners Proman to construct UAE’s first methanol plant

UAE-based oil company, Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC) has signed an agreement with Swiss methanol firm Proman Partners to build a natural gas to methanol facility in Ruwais, Abu Dhabi.

Under the agreement, Proman and Abu Dhabi Chemicals Derivatives Company RSC Ltd (TA‘ZIZ) will jointly develop the methanol plant with a nameplate capacity of 1.8 million mt annually.

TA‘ZIZ is a joint venture between ADNOC and ADQ, an investment and holding company.

The facility is anticipated to meet the growing domestic and international demand for low emission fuels alongside catering to its usage in spanning industrial products, says ADNOC.

The project is subject to relevant regulatory approval.
