AET partners with PTLCL to build green ammonia-fuelled Aframax
Singapore-based shipping company AET has inked a deal with PETCO Trading Labuan Company (PTLCL), a unit of Petronas, to explore the possibility of deploying a green ammonia-fuelled Aframax.

AET - a subsidiary of MISC Group - will select a suitable shipyard to build a dual-fuel tanker that can run on ammonia. The vessel is expected to be delivered by 2026 and will be on a long-term charter with PTCL.
Both companies will also explore “opportunities for a green ammonia corridor in Southeast Asia” under the deal.
The partnership will help AET “to explore the potential development and construction of one net-zero green ammonia Aframax as we both continue our decarbonisation journey to advance towards a net zero future,” said Capt. John Baptist of AET and head of decarbonisation at MISC.
AET considers green ammonia crucial to its decarbonisation goals.
Last year, the company teamed up with Thai gas company PTT to develop and build two Aframaxes that can run on ammonia.
