Ammonia vessel orders end three-month dry spell – DNV
Ammonia-capable vessel orders have ended a three-month lull, with four new orders recorded in April.

This has brought total ammonia-capable orders to 46, with deliveries expected towards 2030, according to DNV data. Three such vessels are currently in operation.
A total of 38 alternative fuel-capable vessel orders were placed in April, up sharply from just five in March, DNV senior consultant Kristian Hammer said.
LNG continued to dominate orders, accounting for the bulk of newbuild activity. These orders spanned several segments, including car carriers (8), container vessels (6), crude tankers (4) and cruise ships (2), Hammer added.
There are now 933 LNG-capable vessels in operation and another 681 on order for delivery by 2033.
Shipowners have also shown growing interest in LPG as a potential future fuel.
April saw 14 new LPG-capable vessel orders, bringing the total orderbook to 122 vessels scheduled for delivery through 2029. The operational fleet stands at 166 vessels.
On the other hand, methanol has lagged so far this year, with just two orders recorded in 2026 to date.
The operational methanol fleet has grown to 129 vessels in April and the global orderbook stands at 317 vessels scheduled for delivery through 2030.
