Amogy to retrofit ammonia-based power system on offshore supply vessel
Skansi Offshore, a shipping company based in the Faroe Islands, is studying the feasibility of retrofitting one of its offshore supply vessels with Amogy's proprietary ammonia-to-power technology.

Amogy, a US-based start-up backed by e-commerce giant Amazon, developed a zero-carbon power system that uses ammonia to generate hydrogen aboard ships.
The system feeds liquid ammonia stored onboard the vessel into a catalyst-based reactor system. The reactor converts ammonia to hydrogen by breaking it down into nitrogen and hydrogen molecules through a process called "ammonia cracking".
Fuel cells installed on board the vessel will utilise hydrogen as a fuel for propulsion.
According to Skansi Offshore, the technology will enable its offshore supply ships to operate with zero-emissions.
