The port authority plans to install a total of five renewable electricity-powered plug-in connections in the Bays Port area of Sydney. This will include four for bulk ships and one for cruise ships.
It aims to initiate solar power purchase agreements to establish direct connections between plug-in power facilities and solar installations, reducing reliance on local providers, the port authority said.
When operational, this could be the first renewable electricity-powered shore power connection for cruise ships in the Southern Hemisphere, the authority claimed.
