Norwegian gas carrier owner Avance Gas has agreed to sell the last two of its very large gas carrier (VLGC) newbuilds that can run on LPG.

Both vessels will be able to run on LPG or conventional fuels and are on order with South Korean shipbuilder Hanwha Ocean.
They have also been upgraded to “ready to run on ammonia as fuel when this feature becomes commercially available,” Avance Gas claims.
The 91,000 cbm-capacity vessels will be fully capable of carrying ammonia in addition to LPG.
The VLGCs, which were intended to be named Avance Castor and Avance Pollux, were initially scheduled for delivery in the third and fourth quarters of this year, but construction delays have meant they are now expected for delivery in March and May 2024, respectively.
Avance Gas has not disclosed any details about the buyer of the vessels. It has been actively expanding its fleet recently. In August, it exercised an option with Chinese shipbuilder Nantong CIMC Sinopacific Offshore & Engineering (CIMC SOE) to add two more dual-fuel LPG/ammonia carriers, taking its LPG/ammonia carrier tally to four.
