AW Shipping takes delivery of ethane dual-fuel vessel

AW Shipping has received the first ethane dual-fuel Very Large Ethane Carriers (VLECs), of the nine that are under construction at China’s Jiangnan Shipyard.

The 98,000 cbm VLEC, Gas Yongjiang, is capable of running on both ethane and conventional marine fuels. It will operate under a 20-year time charter.

AW Shipping is a joint venture between UAE-based ADNOC Logistics & Services and China’s Wanhua Chemical.

The remaining eight VLECs are slated for delivery between 2025 and 2027.
