The contract involves the installation of four PV plants within the port service area. These will be located at Zierbena Dock, on the Santurtzi breakwater, in the pre-boarding area of the ferry terminal at the A-6 Dock in Santurtzi, and in the car park at the Olatua cruise terminal in Getxo.

The contract has been awarded to a joint venture made up of four companies: Viuda de Sainz, Radimer Servicios Energéticos, Achiles Ingeniería Fotovoltaica, and Solar 360 de Repsol y Movistar.

The entire project is expected to be completed within 18 months.

Parallelly, the Port Authority is advancing its OPS project, aimed at allowing vessels to connect to shore power at the ro-ro, ro-pax, container, and cruise terminals.

The system has been designed with 11 connection points and a total power capacity of 30 megawatts (MW). The first phase of the OPS project is expected to be completed in early 2026, while the second phase, which began in 2025, is scheduled for completion in 2027.
