Green2x’ technology uses agricultural straw leftovers as biomass feedstock to produce biogas. The biogas is then upgraded to biomethane, which can be further upgraded to bio-methanol, Green2x explains.

The straw for this project will be sourced from its plant in the Port of Vordingborg, Denmark.

The project is expected to be completed by 2030.

“Green2x’s strategic plans are now accelerating, supporting our ambitions to become an international green fuel producer very rapidly,” Mikkel Sjølin Kiil, chief executive of Green2x said.

“The location in Malmö opens doors to enormous potential. This gives us a unique opportunity to strengthen cooperation with the shipping industry, among others,” he added.

“As a port, our goal is to play a significant regional role in the transition to green fuels in close cooperation with other players in the value chain,” Barbara Scheel Agersnap, chief executive of Copenhagen Malmö Port said.
