Bunkering operations in the Houston–Galveston area, including the anchorage of Galveston Offshore Lightering Area (GOLA) and Bolivar Roads port, resumed on the afternoon of 2 December after weather conditions improved, a bunker trader informed ENGINE.

This follows the Vessel Traffic Service Houston/Galveston's decision to suspend all transits for piloted vessels bound for the Bolivar Roads anchorage on 28 November due to approaching storm fronts and elevated winds.

All bunkering operations at the anchorage were also halted at that time.

During the disruption, strong winds and rough seas affected operations across the area with winds of about 30 knots and seas of up to 3 feet reported in parts of the Houston Ship Channel and Galveston Bay.

Wind gusts later also reached 45 knots in the bay.

Currently, a small craft advisory for the Houston Ship Channel and Galveston Bay continues to be in effect.

The Houston-Galveston area encompasses an area extending from the east bank of the Colorado River in southwest Texas to 60 miles east of Lake Charles, Louisiana.
