The approval forms part of a joint development project focused on creating a large-scale commercial vessel that integrates PEMFC technology from South Korean engineering firm Vinssen and an ammonia cracking system engineered by marine tech company Panasia.
This design will deliver full-scale power for propulsion, cargo handling and onboard energy, surpassing earlier applications limited to small vessels or auxiliary loads.
Under the project, MISC Berhad serves as the shipowner and operator, Samsung Heavy Industries leads vessel design and construction, and Bureau Veritas ensures compliance and provides approvals.
